Michael Fernandez

Michael Fernandez

Graphic Designer

Hi, my name is Michael a proficient graphic designer focused on branding and graphic identity development. My philosophy is that great brands have the power to change the world like Nike or Apple. Great attention to detail, inspiring storytelling, and consistency all contribute to the company’s success.

I never hesitate to go above and beyond and ask in-depth questions of not only the subject but also the how and the why. I can see the importance of being able to convey the specifics and nuances of our constantly changing industry to our diverse audience.

Graphic Designer

I like to think of myself as a visual problem solver. One that uses any and all means appropriate to achieve a desired result or outcome through design; weaving iconography, typography, color, space and texture with the ultimate goal of providing users with the best experience possible.

What You Can Expect.

So I am sure you are like: “What happens next?  So glad you asked.  Unlike our children, this process comes with a guide. You will receive 3 items to get you as well as we can get started.

  1. Link to the Program Management Tool (PMT).
  2. Client Homework
  3. Milestones.

The Program Management Tool (PMT) that we will be using is Freedcamp. In a PMT you will not have to worry about where to upload files, where or when We sent You or You sent Us an email. Everything you need to know as well as everything you need to have is all stored in one safe place. You can also see what is coming up and approve revision all in the same place.

The Client Homework is other items that will be needed from you in order to help with the creative process to ensure that we are all on the same page creatively.  This is also used so that we can discover in deeper detail information about your business to help us do proper industry research.  This will be on your Task Tab in Freedcamp the PMT. It will have an icon that looks like:

The Milestones are a detail list of our process over the timeframe that you provided. This gives you a breakdown of what step you are on and a brief description of that step.  This way you know when things are due to you or when we need approvals from you to move forward. This will be on your Milestone Tab in Freedcamp the PMT. It will have an icon that looks like:

You will receive all this information within 2 no more than 3 days from your Project Start Date and you will have a week to a week and a half depending on the scope of work and timeline we are working with to complete it.

Here’s How We Will Communicate.

Program Management Tool (PMT)

This is a video explaining the general use of our project management tool. As well as how to use it and how it will function to keep all of our information in one place.  A detail explanation for web and one for branding will be coming soon.

We use Pinterest to communicate your sense of taste and style to the design team. This better equipt the designer on your color palette and sense of style that you have in mind and might be looking for.

Side Note:  You need to keep in mind that just because you LOVE Purple or Canary Yellow does not mean that those two colors are the best for your industry or your brand.

As the designers, we are here to help guide you what is effective for your industry, what is one trend and meets your style and taste.

How to Provide Great Feedback

This project is a collaboration, which means I can’t do it alone! I need your feedback in order to make the most effective website possible.  Here are a few tips that will help me create the best website I can for you!

Be as specific as possible – what exactly isn’t right, and why doesn’t it work for you? Try to really narrow down to what the problem is.

Be honest – you’re not going to hurt my feelings, I need to honestly know what you think!

Don’t ask random people for their input –feedback from your mom, best friend, or social media group isn’t helpful. You need to focus on YOU and YOUR audience, not anyone else’s opinion.

Remember your audience – the whole point is to create something that attracts your audience. Keep them in mind and put yourself in their shoes when reviewing the project.

Don’t try to fix it – that’s my job! You hired me for my expertise; let me put my experience and knowledge to work.

Sleep on it – review, and then review again tomorrow. Sometimes it takes a bit for things to soak in, and having a night or two in between initial reaction and sending me your feedback can help pinpoint what you really love, and what needs work.

Ask questions – if you don’t know why I did something the way I did, ask. Everything is done for a specific reason, and I’m happy to explain why I went a certain route with your project.

Do I have to use a project management system?

Yes! It makes things so much easier for both of us! It keeps everything in one spot, and shows what we both need to be working on. If you’re struggling with it, let me know and we can schedule a 30-minute Zoom call to walk you through it.

How many revisions do I get?

This information is outlined in your contract as well as in your project timeline.  If you don’t have it handy, let me know and I’ll resend it to you.

Why does the process take so long?

This is because I want to make sure your brand is created with you and your company in mind. Making a Brand requires research on the industry as well as on your business and your process. This takes not only time but your input. Since you run a business you are also busy so we want to allow you the time to review and provide feedback without feeling rushed.

Will I use Honeybook any more?

You will only use Honeybook to make payments to your account. You will have all other communication in the Freedcamp website or phone app. In your calendar on Freedcamp will also be a calendar reminder of your up-coming payments.
